Lancaster County’s Roots in Hemp Inspires Company to Launch CBD Product Line
Before hemp was banned in the U.S. in 1957, farmers in Lancaster County Pennsylvania grew it in abundant supply. In 1958, the county’s last hemp crop was harvested and processed.
Now, Lancaster-based company Hempfield Botanicals is bringing hemp back—legally, of course—through its products with the healing properties of hemp-based isolated crystalline cannabinoids (also known as CBD). The company was named after the town of Hempfield, PA, where the most Lancaster County hemp was grown in its heyday.
Hempfield Botanicals uses whole-plant hemp extracts in its 100% THC-free products that provide an effective topical treatment for muscle, nerve, joint pain, and inflammation. Because the company’s products contain zero percent Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), they are considered industrial hemp products (which must have under 0.3 percent THC) and are allowed by U.S. Federal law to be produced and shipped to all states.
Hempfield Botanicals CBD products include:
- Hempfield Botanicals CBD Body & Massage Oil
- Hempfield Botanicals CBD Muscle Recovery
- Hempfield Botanicals CBD Salve
- Hempfield Botanicals CBD Lip Balm
The CBD in the products interacts with receptors in the brain to help ease inflammation and pain. Unlike THC in cannabis products, CBD does not produce a “high” or have other psychoactive effects.
The company sources all of its hemp-derived CBD from sustainable farms in Kentucky, a state known to be at the forefront of the hemp agriculture. All of Hempfield Botanicals products are created in a food-grade, GMP certified facility and are tested for safety and quality.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to offer a product that can help so many people. We receive daily testimonials about how effective our products are and how they are changing the lives of those suffering from chronic pain,” shared Heather Kreider, Hempfield Botanicals partner and co-owner of the business’s sister company Makes Scents Natural Spa Line. “We are also planning to launch a line of sublingual CBD oils, edibles, and products for pets, as well.”
Hempfield Botanicals products will be sold at spas and select retail locations.
